Founded in 1974, Pacific Northwest Ballet School is recognized as one of the top three ballet training institutions in the United States. Under the direction of Peter Boal, the School offers a complete, professional curriculum to more than 1,000 students. The School’s Open Program attracts 600 teens and adults who wish to pursue recreational dance instruction in a supportive and encouraging setting.

Meet The Princes

One of our favorite parts of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® is seeing PNB School’s dedicated students onstage. Two of those students, Becket and Ko, take on the role of The Prince this year. You’ll see them onstage as the mysterious nephew of Drosselmeier, the heroic Nutcracker, and the gracious prince. Meet them in this brief interview!

Announcing New PNB Faculty Member Kurt Froman

Pacific Northwest Ballet School has announced that Kurt Froman has been hired to lead the School’s Men’s Division. An accomplished and highly respected teacher and mentor with dancing careers at New York City Ballet and on Broadway, Mr. Froman was the resident choreographer of the Broadway show Billy Elliot, The Musical, training and coaching the young actors in the title role. At PNB School, Mr. Froman will teach, support, and mentor the School’s male-identifying students, and serve as a liaison with students’ families.

New Voices: An insight into PNB’s unique choreography program for young women

PNB's New Voices students will be presenting their original work on Wednesday, June 5th in Studio C. New Voices is unique to PNBS; it is a program is solely focused on educating and fostering the next generation of female choreographers. By offering young women the time and space to expand their choreographic knowledge and experience, they gain a valuable and broader view about dance and creative process. This not only applies to their training, but how they engage with the art form on a deeper and more holistic level.
