Wimpye
Destiny Wimpye (she/her) is from Atlanta, Georgia. She studied at the Colburn Dance Academy and Pacific Northwest Ballet School, both on full scholarship, and attended summer courses at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Debbie Allen Dance Academy, School of American Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Chautauqua Dance Program. She joined Pacific Northwest Ballet as an apprentice in 2022 and corps de ballet in 2023.

Pointe Shoe: Ballet’s Beloved Illusion
Ballet has become synonymous with the pointe shoe—every time a little one dreams of spinning around on a massive stage under glowing lights dressed in a sparkling tutu, their feet are clad in such shoes. PNB's Artistic Director, Peter Boal, says “to be honest, I don’t know where PNB would be without the pointe shoe…. Q&A with Apprentice Destiny Wimpye
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be? I would tell my younger self to believe in herself more; to have more confidence in her choices and feelings. Everything will work out for you in the way that things are supposed to. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you are less than.
